Arrow no left turn signal or break light on left please help.

Hay guys I realy need some help!!!
I have spent countless hr's in the hot sun trying to figure out whats wrong with my truck!

I beleve it has something to do with the aftermarket towing kit installed I have allredy read acouple threads about it on hear and even wached some youtube videos but still im stuck with the problum & still cant figure out whats going on hear...?

I have no left turn signal or break light on left side DRIVER SIDE.

NOW I have alredy replaced all fuses & bulbs & had the bulbs checked at discount auto parts thare fine.

the top bulb lights up as running light and when reverseing my truck
when I hit the left turn siganl on the light in the dash blinks realy fast leting me know its not working.

I spent the time taking acouple picture hoping it would help explane my problum to you guys hoping someone could help...

hear is a picture of the multi meter my frend gave me to takle the problum unfortunatly i beleve its missing the ground wire and i have never used one of these before so i have no clue what to do with it =(

Now about 2 years ago I had this problum checked out by a tech at tiremart & I think thay figured out whats wrong but did'nt fix it because after that I lost my lic & just now got it back.unfortunatly i just cant remember what thay sead to me because it was so long ago. T
The truck has been sitting for a wile & im just now fixing everythang. unfortunatly.
I had to do alot on engen work and now this problum is killing me.

I found this part in my truck I beleve its part of the towing kit hook up for under the dash the wires are maked but still unsure how it hooks up =(

hears the gray end.

and hears the other end.

Hear is this part hanging out from under my dash that it looks like it hooks to but still im unsure about where it gos or what to do.
oddly this part only has 2 wires going to it 1 green & 1 red

one of the guys at autoparts store told me I should clean all the wires & contact points under the left side so I did & I didnt find any corrosion
I even switched out the right side wit hthe left for testing and still nothing changed.
a guy at the parts store with a diffrent multi meter checked the plug in for teh to lights at the point in the picture and says that im getting power to that point.
unfortunatly pritty much everyone who trys to help me figure out the problum is just as stumped as I am
hears the picutre.

& I beleve this is a picture of where the towing kit is conected unfortunaly its not coverd in the user manul of witch i just read all 220 pages of =(

I will take more pictures if need be please help me guys your my only hope Im so lost I just dont know what to do =(

I got to get my girl to work and realy dont want to get a ticket.

Please help!!!

I would check the clip that plugs into the hazzard and turn signal switch box. when I would lower my steering wheel it would cut power to my brakes and turn signals. you have to pull the steering column upper cover and check every wire also put your steering wheel in the up postion it could help

Wow, there is a lot of info here. First the multi meter doesn't appear to be missing anything, but if you don't know what to do with it then it's useless. Next make sure you have the correct bulb in, it should be a dual filament- it will have two wires in the bulb. If that's ok then get a test light and check for power and ground at the taillight socket. A test light has a clip on a wire that goes to a bulb with a point on the end. Hook the clip to positive, then you can find negative when the bulb lights. Get it? The socket should have both positive and negative when the brakes are on. I also remembered you said the top bulb lights up for park and reverse? Did I understand that right?

Yes the top light lights up fine. But.
No haz No break. no turn signal.

I switched the bulbs around thay both work on the top as running lights.

Im not sure how to take that stearing colom off but I just put the entire dash back together.

what should I set the multi meter to for testing anyway?

The Name on the break controler is Tekonsha Voyager if that helps?

Also my light on my tow break controler nolonger turns on not sure if its related.
But it did come on when I replaced the fuse for a second untill I put the bottom socket back on with a bad bulb in it.
The fuze is still fine but my turn signal worked for a second anyway not sure about the haz or breaks.

My gess is it could be the bottom socket but I still dont see why the top one wont work right?
also if anyone can tell me whats the name of the part maby that would help so I could check the price?

I still think it has something to do with the break controler or towing kit to.

I just cant seam to figure it out it's driving me crazy been going on 5 days trying to figure it out now.

I gess I could rule out the socket by switching sides right?

can anyone tell me how to check fuzes in the power network box im thinking its behind my glove compartment but im unsure?

I would love to beable to check the fuzes in thare.

thares is one called...

(input) from left hand stop/turn signal switch.

unfortunatly the schematic dosent tell me where it is or how to get to it. =(

You know I don't want to insult you but it sounds like the skill level to repair this is just not there. I would quit pulling your hair out and take it to a shop. The amount of time you have already spent is probably half the time it would take for them to fix.

Listen, I really didn't mean that to be an insult- I was trying to give you helpful advice. Good electrical diagnosis takes a lot of skill and practice. I know because it has been 13yrs of practice for me.
Set the multimeter to DC volts. I'm not sure what you are asking in the other question.

Im telling you its the plug on the back of the blinker and hazzard switch in the steering column, It happened on both my 00 reg cab and my wifes 99 expy. when you tilt the steering wheel down it strains the wires and pops the plug loose sometimes the individual wires get pulled out of the plug
