Default 2001 Ford F-150 4X4 transfer case Manual Shift

I have a 2001 Ford F150 with a 5.4 engine and manual transfer case shifter on the floor. The housing/linkage that the shifter connects to underneath has a "pivot bolt" that provides leverage to the shifter so that it can engage the transfer case. The bolt has either backed out or sheared off. I'm trying to determine the size of this bolt. I asked on another website, but the expert gave me bad dimensions. Anyone know the size of the bolt?

Have you tried the Ford dealership? They may be able to tell you the size and I'm sure they would be more than happy to sell you one.

I tried the dealer and believe it or not his computer didn't show the dimensions or part number for the bolt. He was going to consult some older manuals, but so far no luck.

If you can post pictures and it's not too terribly hard to get to I can check my truck. I have a 2001 F-150 4.6 4X4 off road with the floor shifter.

STOP! This is a special "shouldered" bolt. You can't use a regular bolt. It's shouldered to allow the bushing to pivot on it. They're prone to seizing. The dealer does sell it. Use lots of anti-seize on the new one.

Thanks for your help! I called another Ford dealer and he was able to ship me the bolt. I'm waiting on it to deliver. After reading your comments I took a second look and it looks like the bushing is damaged. Looks like I'll have to order the stick too!

Received the bolt in the mail today. It was a little tight, but worked great! If anyone else needs this bolt, the part number is N606542-S309. It is discontinued but there are still a few dealerships with inventory on their shelves, you just have to call around.

Thanks for your help!

Default Shoulder bolt sheered off

Now what do I do? Besides drilling it out which I understand requires taking out the 2 bolts attaching apparatus to side of transmission...And if I drill it out, will the N606542-S309 bolt still fit? crap this is horrible! Or do I need the entire apparatus as well as the shifter?
