Hey all,

I am getting the engine code P1405. Apparently this is P1405 Differential Pressure Feedback Electronic Sensor circuit Upstream Hose. How do I fix it and how much is it going to cost me? Also, where can I find a diagram to figure out where it is whatever I need to fix. Thanks in advance.

Replace my DPFE, 115K ago. Bought it about $60.00 and started comparring to whats under hood. Mine just pushed into the vaccuum lines and done. 2 minutes looking and 20 seconds fixin.

where did you purchase the part, i looked at autozone.com and they had no listings.

napa - there are two designs. 1 is shiny aluminum, the other is black plastic. Look on the driver side of intake, It will have two silicon rubber hoses attached to the underside of the connector and a oval electrical plug. Need to verify before purchasing because the price difference is big!

I had the same thing happen to me on a 2001 SuperCrew, 5.4, 113k. I took the cover off the intake, and it's easy to access on the drivers side. I went to check the two rubber hoses that go to the exhaust, and almost didn't pull them off because they looked just fine. The rearmost one disintegrated in my hand! I had to cut the ends off where they go to the exhaust as they were melted on there. I really needed to get my emissions recerted (Virginia), so I wanted those hoses right now. NAPA said it would take a day and cost $25, and Pep Boys couldn't find them in their computer. I looked at the line they sell on a spool though, the 1/4" rubber fuel line. Thinking that might be formulated to handle some heat, I risked the $4 it took to buy a foot, and spliced them onto the sensor. Bingo - good to go. I've gone 150 miles on it, and they seem as solid and undamaged by heat as when I put them on - long term durability will tell that tale. What I unfortunately didn't know is that when you clear that trouble code, it takes "up to 50 miles" (according to the tech) to build sufficient data to pass an emissions test, so I had to wait anyway, but it was a fast and cheap fix.

Guys- After reading these posts I was able to replace the hoses that connect to that DPFE sensor. I was so easy that it was ridiculous. Literarly, 20 seconds to fix. Thanks for posting this information. Saved me probably $100. The hoses cost $6.00 a piece from Ford. Apparently, they are only sold at Ford because they are heat resistant.

Okay the p1405 code easy fix just replace both hose's with 1/4 inch fuel hose, the back one is 1/4 inch so there is no problem there, then the front hose is 1/8 inch so buy 2 hose clamps and slip them on snug and you are all ready set to go easy fix for 5 buck's CRAIG
