2001 F150 - Part found in transmission??
I dropped the transmission pan to replace the trans filter on my 2001 ford F-150. I found a 1-1/2 ” tapered plunger with an o-ring approximately 3/8 of an inch form the top (see attached picture). I looked all over the transmission and I can’t find where it belongs, it looks to be important. Can someone please help identify the part and give approximate location as to where it belongs?

its installed at the factory during assembly....it doesnt have a place to go when the dipstick is installed, therefore it floats in the pan..if its still there, it means the fluid has never been changed.

I did my 03 f150 trans last week and went through the same 15 minutes of trying to find out where it went.
I put mine on my desk at work to remind me that I don't know what I don't know.
