Unhappy 2001 F150 Brake light problem

My 2001 f150 does not have rear brake lights. Lights work, blinkers work, flashers work. Pulled the connector apart beside the spare tire. I get 11.5 volts when the blinker is turned on and 12.5+ when the brakes are pressed. The brake light on the cab about the rear window works. I visually looked at the wiring harness and it looks fine. Checked the trailer brake wire to make sure it had not been crushed. It looked fine. Pulled and reconnected the connector on the left rear near the bumper that goes up into the tail light. I get voltage for blinker but not brakes(these are pins and I'm not sure of the pin out for voltage). Any thoughts would be appreciated.

My old explorer did the same thing, turned out that it blew both rear tail light bulbs.

Default Tail Lights not working resolved

Well it was the steering column wiring harness. Part was about $30 and labor $300. Supposedly I was using the column adjustment too much. NO! anyway the wires got pinched and shorted out. At least it works now.
