hey everyone, first post here,

I was looking for a site with alot of topics/threads on the 97-03 F150's and here I am.

I have been looking for any information on cab removal on these years and what all is involved. I have a 2001 F150 7700 XLT Supercab 4X4 shortbox that was on dual fuel, gas/CNG (Natural gas) The truck has 263,000 km's on it and have been plagued with a misfire on cylinder #5. Well turns out, I have a burnt exhaust valve. So rather than tear the engine out and rebuild it, I have bought a roll-over same year with 134,000 km's. What I plan on doing is switching the cab and the box onto this frame/chassis. The guy I bought it from said it isn't running, you know that dreaded 1260 theft code!!!!<---more about that some other time

Well I got past that and it runs mint. Put the truck on on stands and let it warm up and had it cruising at 120 km/h for about 5 minutes, no check engine light and no codes. It was a well looked after truck. I now have the box off and want to prep for cab removal.

So long story short, any info/help/websites would be greatly appreciated and only hope I can help others out here too

well it would prolly consist of pulling everything out and looking for the bolts under the carpet and lifting it off i would assume

Thank you Maximus, I did have that link saved, lots of info there as well, Especially the note about not moving the steering wheel once it is separated from the steeringbox. Possible airbag detonation

I have a list of things to do before separating the cab like the

e-brake
throttle cable
air/cond to cab
heater lines
cab safety cables
ground straps
the torx 55 bolts (pre-soaking with WD40 as I am typing this)
I'll see if I can load a couple pics

box in the air waiting for tomorrow to pull the truck out and slide the trailer under it

and the body for the frame/chassis.

I figure waaaaaaay easier to just drop the body that to pull the engine/tranny transfer case and both diffs. Not that there is anything wrong with mine, it's just 263K as compared to 134 and change

well today the box came off and found a bonus I wanted for my 7700, skid plates that are factory installed The front crossmember one, the transfer case one and the fuel tank one,....saweeeeet

If I read this correct, instead of rebuilding the engine you bought a rollover and your just swapping bodies?

Is the rollover a 7700 too?

ya, it's a 2001 7700 as well, same everything, year, and body style. I figure it will be way easier than to pull everything and just re use my original frame. My big hurdle will be lifting the cab. My garage is only a 7 foot ceiling so I will have to do this outside. oh well see how it goes

This what the truck looked like when it was delivered, I think it was rolled in the winter on snow cause there are no scratches on the paint, weird just dented up really bad and the roof is pushed in a bit. It was an insurance write off the only exterior part worth keeping was the rear bumper, it is MINT and the running boards/steps. The front bumper looked really good but the passenger side had a large minor dent.

There's no frame damage or anything messed up on the drivetrain? It'd scare me being a roll over. If it was checked out then I guess it's safe. I'd still be cautious.
