2001 5.4L Screw 4wd...good choice...???
Going to look at a 2001 screw 4x4 with tow package...presumably 3.73 l/s...
I am very ignorant of truck 4wd axles, hubs, transfer cases, and drive axles in general...also very ignorant of what year models had what types of 4wd systems/components etc...
As noted in my sig I am not new to f-150s...however, mine has been 100% trouble free...well aware now of the spark plug issues...and been reading some about leaking cabs...???
It has 117k miles...current owner bought is 2 years ago with 90k miles...he says he had the spark plugs done at 98k...and that he had some kind of malf where water leaked into the air intake (from heater core I think he said not sure he really knows...lol...) and the result was 8 new injectors...
What can you guys tell me...
Thanks...

There are actually a slew of them ranging in price from 9k to 14k...
The ones I am focusing on are bone stock down to the oem replacement street tires...
Some don't have as good a repair history as yours and my 2000...
I really would like to get an 04+...due to the improvements Ford made in 2004 with regard to offset crash...and also the change to IFS...
I know the 4wd systems in the front mechanically are different...not real sure what all the details are other than the obvious cv joints...
I have to have white 5.4L screw (preferably w/o captains chairs and with a sliding rear window)...which cuts down the choices dramatically...rare find around here to see a white 5.4L 04+ in nice condition under 20k...There are some great deals on extremely nice Lariats, KRs, Platnums, FX4s, Scabs, etc in the 15k-18k range which is acceptable, but most are black or silver and lifted with engine bolts ons and all kinds of stuff I don't I don't want...and, of course, well over 100k miles (which is okay) picky, picky eh...lol
For me...If I am gonna spend more than 15k on a truck...I am going to get an 09 for 30k...
So it looks like I am limited to 01-03 which are available in the 10k range...
