2001 4X4 Need help front differential
Guys, I have a 2001 Screw 4x4 with a 4 inch Procomp lift and for some reason i keep breaking Moog lower ball joints. The truck came with the lift so im not sure what the issue could be and the suspention shop I took it to said all was good after he installed camber adjusters on it but just broke ball joint #2 in less than 20,000 miles. That is issue #1!
Now issue #2: When this one broke it pulled the entire 1/2 shaft completely out of the diff. I can see in my diagram that a C-clip of some kind is all that keeps it from coming out (as far as I can tell), My question is.... Can this be fixed without removing the front Diff? and is it just a circlip that holds that shaft and spindle from comming out? Any help would be gratly appreciated!

I assume it pulled the driver side stub shaft out. If so you will have to pull the diff, because the front mount is apart of the cover, The circlip is just a inside snap ring. I have broken the same one before. The reason you keep breaking ball joint is the torsion bars are over cranked. It binding the ball joint because there is no more travel. Turn down the torsion bars and use Moog problem solver lower ball joints.

Thanks Crazy! I got the diff out and opened it up, the circlip was inside and its concaved and spread out now. I am trying to find the part number now so I can order a new one.
Question, since this happened to you did you have to pull the carrier out to get the new clip on? I was thinking I might be able to slip it over the end, push the sub shaft in as far as it will go and work the clip on without removing the carrier and passenger side axle.

Me having a hard time finding the snap ring. Did you happen to keep the part number? I tried Ford OEM and it wasn't even on the schematic. And Parts Geek didn't list it either .
