Default 2000 rear differential interchange?

Hey yall, just a quick question that i cant seem to find an answer to. I just picked up a 2000 F150 with a 4.6 4x4 for a hundred bucks that only needs a rear differential. im not looking to spend alot to fix it, what other vehicles use this rear end? my local junkyard only has F150 up to 97, if i get one with drum can i swap over my disc setup easily? Thanks.. Sorry if this has been asked a few times.. I searched but came up empty . i just want to make sure i do not waste a day at the junkyard for something that will not work.

1997 - 03 F-150. I don't think you can take it out of an Expedition because they have a coil spring rear suspension.

Make sure they have the same gear ratio otherwise 4x4 will not work. You can check that by looking at the tag on the rear diff, or looking up the axle code that is printed on the tag in the drivers side door jam.

EDIT: also make sure that they have the same brake system. If you have drum brakes and you get an axle with disc brakes you need to change a few things. There have been a lot of people that have done it though.

Just a FYI you can get one out of a 99-03 5.4L also, they came with 9.75" rearends where yours came with a 8.8". As long as you swap in a rearend with the same gear ratio as the front you will be good!
