Default What could it be?

Hello everyone, im having a problem on my F150 2001 single cab, 4.2 lts V6.

Whell, hope someone can help me with this.

The problem is very extrange... The truck runs fine when i just start it, but when i have about 1 hour running i CANT press the gas pedal more than 2/3 or starts faling at about 4000 rpms (acts like a rev limiter). If i put it in neutral, and press about 1/3 of the gas, it goes with no problem over 5000rpm, But if i fully press the gas pedal, starts backfiring and jumping betwen 3800 and 4000 rpm. It dosent matter if is in neutral or in gear. it fails anyway when fully press and dosent get over 4000rpm

Also, if the car has been running for a long time (say 2 hours) in traffic (somthing very common where i live), it will not go over 3000 rpm IF the gas it is fully pressed (again).

When i say "fail" i mean that it fells like a rev limiter when in neutral, but in gear at any speed, the truck acts like if it not getting enugh air and is imposible to drive (I start jumping arroun the seat XD).

Another thing. If i stop the car for about 10s, and restart it, it whil not fail for about 1 minute.... Then, the problem comes back...

I have changed the fuel filter, air filter, recent oil change and oil filter, Spark plugs and wires are about 40.000 Kms old (aprox 23,500 milles old). The car has 215.000 kms on it (About 126,500 milles). The chek engine ligth is NOT on and dosent have any codes.

Hope someone has any idea what this could be.
Sorry for any misspeling.

This is just an idea I had since one of my old vehicles had a similar problem. Next time you take it for an hour drive hop under the truck and look at your catalytic converters. It may be clogged and if so it will be glowing red.

sounds like the rev limiter doesnt know that your in drive, in drive it is supposed to move up to 5200 rpm and in park or neutral be around 4000 rpm

I thought that, but why only fails when is been running for a while and only at full throttle. Maybe it cold be the coil pack (it was changed aprox 20,000 milles ago). I will take the coil pack from my brothers taurus (is the same that they install on my truck) and test it.

Sorry i forgot, is a manual transmission, 5 speeds. I bealive it dosent have a rev limiter what so ever. Also, when im driving and fully press the pedal, the car starst bounciong. like i said, it acts like a rev limiter ONLY when is in neutral (or cluth pressed)
