2000 f150 dash removal
Bought a 2000 f-150 reg cab flareside 5.4 auto. 178k.Trying to remove dash to clean vents (previuos owner cigar smoker),and clean behind plastic on instrument cluster.Doing well until area around headlight switch and drivers vent.Don't want to break anything can anyone help? Also engine has small lower end rattle at idle. For a truck with 178k is this normal or should I be concerned.Thanx for your help!

carfully pry the headlight **** off and rotate it 180 degrees there should be a small plasic piece in the **** "socket" that the **** will engage with when inserted in the rotated position. turn rthe **** with this engaged and the switch should unlock from the dash.
Note this is how it's setup on my '99 450 superduty but the 03 f150 doesnt have this arrangement so......
hope this helps, Joe

You have nothing to worry about, I just did that on my 97 a few weeks ago and its just like white said, turn the **** to the ON position, pry it off, then put it back on at a 180 degree angle from ON, turn it back to OFF and the whole piece should be unlocked and come right out
