2000 F150 5.4l turns over-won't start

Problem solved, with new fuel pump.
ORDER your fuel pump on line for $100 (not the whole assembly, just the pump itself). Paid a local garage $250 to replace it and the fuel filter. Runs fine. The dealer wants $900 ($450 labor and $450 for the pump-sensor unit).

Coincidence or is time for all 2000 & 2001's fuel pumps?
I am having the same problem and am dropping the tank tomorrow to replace the fuel pump. I did all the same things as gbeck to include the OBD II test and came up with a P0232 - Fuel Pump Secondary Circuit High DTC. i can't hear the pump in the first 3 seconds, but I can hear the Fuel Pump Driver Module come on after a couple of seconds for a quick whirl. i located it in the engine compartment under and near the master cylinder reservoir. Am I right on track?

I'm gonna dig this one up cause i think i have the same problem.
Truck: 2000 F150 4x4 Offroad 5.4l gas, with 140k miles
Story: Was pulling off the freeway onto the exit ramp. Braking as normal up to the stop light. Felt excessive engine braking, and something didnt seem right. As i pulled up to the light, i noticed i had no power brakes or steering, so i knew the truck died. Wouldnt start at all. So i pushed it to the nearest gas station. After some banging around on the tank, and swearing i got it to fire. I tried to pull away to get closer to my destination, and 5 feet later it died again.
It still wont start, but cranks and everything just fine. I believe it's the fuel pump. I had something similar happen to my Cutlass Supreme when i was younger, where it just died on the freeway, and it was the fuel pump. I can't see the fuel cutoff being tripped, and i dont think the relay is bad either, but i'll definately try to swap it real quick to see if it starts. To me, if the relay was bad, i never would have gotten it to start for a second, but i could be wrong.
I have very little pressure at the line, definately not enough to power a fuel injected engine. Basically it just trickles out.
Changed the filter already, with no positive result, other than figuring out that the old filter was definately plugged. So im pretty sure that's the culprit for the bad pump.
What gives?

p0232.....intermittent no start/stall
i felt i owed it to the members here to post my experience with the p0232 code. originally i had assume it was throwin the code due to a bad wire or ground somewhere due to the problem being intermittent. sometimes the truck wouldnt start sometimes it would. other times it would run fine but after i would park it it would have to sit for a while to start again. finally, it jus stopped cranking over, which was good because i finally had a for sure starting point. Of course after checking the relays/fuses and inertia switch i settled on replacing the pump. daunting task at first considering i was goin solo but really not that bad. i dropped the tank and replaced the electric fuel pump in about 3 hours start to finish. i had bought the electric fuel pump for about 40 bucks on ebay. dropping the tank i used a floor jack and two jack stands. 30 bucks. to start i jus undid the tank straps and let the tank sit on the jack all the way extended. lowered it a little to disconnect fuel fill and over flow hoses via hose clamps and pulled the sensor and high pressure fuel lines from pump. remember that the high pressure lines connected to fuel pump are two different sizes, so have both. dropped the tank down and slid it out the side of the truck. put it up on the tail gate, pulled the pump assembly out and replaced and rewired (two wires) the pump in and replaced.....then i jus reversed everything i did to drop it. had only a quarter tank so it wasnt tht bad. anymore i might have needed someone else or the drain it. hooked it all up and turned the key about three times to charge the line and started her up. runs the like a new truck, fkk ya.....so ya, dont think that dropping the tank is too much for you. minimal tools needed really. socket pliers screwdriver and electrical tape. could be done with no jacks or jack stands too. you would jus have to fish the pump out, no biggie. anyways , i had had problems for a lil while with this til i said fkk it and replaced it. if any questions feel free to hit me up.

I parked my F150 and went to start it 15 min. later and it wouldn't start. The theft light was blinking and the odometer was dashes. The engine was turning over but wouldn't start. I got a ride home and checked the F150 forum, saw John Toller's post. The next day I took my other key back to the truck and it started right up. When I got home I tried the first key and it started the truck now. It has been two days now, working fine. Thanks John.
