1998 F150 Nascar Edition 4.6L/Need rebuild and tranny suggestions
Hey guys, I have a 98 Nascar Edition with the 4.6L/5-speed trans. I'm wanting to build a motor for the truck, and find a manual transmission that will hold up to the rebuild. I would like to be in the 400-450hp range as cost effectively as possible (I realize this might be a chore). This raises a few problems I believe. First off, how easy is it to switch to the 3V heads? What transmission am I to use as I'm sure the factory Mazda trans isn't going to hold up to the horsepower I would like to make? Any help would be much appreciated, as I would like to start this project ASAP!!

Just sayin, I wouldn't build a motor with new gen f150 3 valve heads. They aren't as tough as the 2 valve design. I've had friends raising hell with 3 valve heads and they don't hold up as well as the 2 valvers, just sayin. I'd just port ur old ones.
