1997 F150 Rear Brakes Locking
I have a 1997 F150. The rear brakes lock up easily especially when traveling at parking lot speeds. I have had the the master cylinder and proportionate valve replaced but they have made NO difference. Anyone had this problem and hopefully a solution???

Is this 4 wheel disc or shoes on the back? If shoes, the drums might be out of round, this can be verified by driving very slow and applying the emergency brake, the truck will feel like out of round tires.

I have 97 150 4x4 with rear drums, mine locks up at low speeds after
driving in rain if it sets for a short while. That's the only time they lock-up.
After a couple stops the problem is gone until the next rain

I have a 97 also, and only when it rains the right rear brake will lock occasionally. But it's only when it's wet and only at low speeds and only sporadically. I've had mechanics look at it, had the drums turned, no one has been able to tell me why and mine has been doing it for over 5 years. Good luck figuring it out and let us know if you find the soloution please!

Got a FIX!!!
OK Guys I have finally got the fix to the brake problem. It was so simple it was stupid. It seems that if the brakes heat up and glaze the drums they stick at low speeds. I had the drums turned and brakes readjusted and they work like new!!
I hope this helps some of you other guys with the same problem.

I also have an ABS light on. I think the guy I bought it from said he had it checked and it was a rear ASB module ? I don't know what that is or where it would be found . Another person told me the proportioning valve that connects to the master cylinder could be bad and causing my braking problems abs doesn't work and my brakes just don't work right

I had this problem with my 96 bronco it turned out that the drum surface would flash rust just a bit when it rained hard enough and the friction coefficient would skyrocket.
I learned to ride the brakes for just a bit after it sat over night after being driven in the rain for about 500 feet and it would behave normally.
