Default 1997 F150 question

I bought a 97 F150 from my cousin who bought it new. It has 145k miles and is a 4.6 ext cab 4x4. I originally just bought it to have to haul things and what not every now and then. But now I sold my regular car and have decided to drive this through winter before buying something new in April or so of next year. Now other than changing the oil is there any other preventive stuff I should do. I thought about changing all the fluids but I don't want to open a can of worms if nothing is broken. He had the truck tuned up at 100k miles he said so I should be good on that. What other things should I do as a precautionary measure? The truck runs pretty good as is. Thank you for your help.

I would check the battery at the parts store to make sure it has proper charge. The other thing to check thats a big wear item is the PCV elbows on the hose from the PCV to the intake. They get soft and tear causing a vacuum leak and codes P0171 and P0174. If you find yours are soft I would plan on replacing the hose assembly.

With that many miles I would check out the front end ie, balljoints, tierod ends etc. etc. Couple other things check the brakes front and rear and service the tranny for sure but that's just me.

I would pull the elbow on the upper intake and clean the EGR passage
Not hard to do.

if you got time... clean the egr hose.. from the egr valve to the manifold.. clean the lines that go to the sensor.. clean all of this with a can of carb cleaner.. it will improve mileage and live of the system..

clean your intake.. inside of it all the way up to the throttle body..
