1997 f150 gas tank pressure
1997 ford f150 2wd v8 auto. When ideling there is pop noise that comes from the gas tank filler cap.It may be caused by eather vaccum or pressure.It is fairly loud I was wondering if there may be a releaf valve or regulator that may be faulty.

I bought a new gas cap and that didnt help.When ideling the noise happens about every 45 seconds.I believe the gas cap has a safety valve in it ,wondering why the pop would be so loud (about as loud as opening a pepsi can after shakeing it).

Sounds like the vent for the tank is stoped up. IT vents into a carbon canister. If you always overfill the tank the carbon cansiter might be full of fuel thus not allowing the tank to vent.
