Default 1997 f150 auto to m5od swap

Hello, I currently have a 97 f-150 equipped with 4 wheel drive (controlled by the switch on the dash) im going to be gathering the parts I need to do the swap soon how ever is there any odd things that might or could go wrong such as will an m5od from any 97-03 work as long as it is for a 4x4,also is the crossmember a bolt on part or will I have to cut it off and do I need the Ecm or pcm...or are they the same lastly can I use the automatic steering column or no any help would be appreciated or if there's a tutorial that would be a blessing

Default 1997 f150 auto to m5od swap

You will nees the trucks computer. If you dont change the column you will be looking at a funky interior. This will only work on the 4.6 v8.

Have you done the swap and trucks computer... ECm ecu or pcm which one

I have not but it has been covered in this forum before. The one that has the trans control. Ecu I believe.
