Default 1997 F150 4.2 V6 Oil Pressure

Ok, I did a oil pressure check with the gauges and all and the readouts were nil, so i am sure that there is not a false positive from the sending unit. What would the next step be? Do I just change the oil pump and see what happens? Or, is there a next step before that to make sure that I am making the correct next step? What else should I be looking for?
Thanks

Pull some main bearing caps off. If the bearing is the silver/white color, its in good shape. If its showing copper, the bearings are bad. Always install new oil pumps when bearings are changed. Obtain a manual for the proper use of plasti-gauge.

I am guessing you have low oil pressure if thats the case I would start by pulling the pan instead of ripping the engine apart and see if the oil pickup tube is clogged in any way. When was the last time the oil was changed maybe the filter collapsed? ...
