Default 1997 F-150 no power to 4x4 switch

My 4x4 on my 97 F-150 worked last winter. I recently tried it and it is no longer working. I notice the blue led light to my 4x4 switch no longer works so I checked it for power...there is none in any position. I was told to check fuse 23 in the dash as well as 17 under the hood. Are there any other fuses that may cut power off to my switch? What about the ECM? How would I know if it is bad? Also I probably dont need to point this out since the switch to put it in 4x4 has no power... but the 4x4 light in the instrument cluster dont illuminate either when I put the switch in one of the 4x4 positions. (It does however light up for a second when I start the truck along with the oil and other lights)

You could do it the hard way and pull every fuse to see if it's bad. Or you could bypass the circuit by connecting the (+) pole of the switch to a separate fused 12v(+).

I don't think the switch is your problem if your dash indicator isn't lighting up and your truck won't go into 4 either.

I agree with that already Mike..Im pretty sure the switch is good...the problem is there is no power to it. Im trying to figure out why I have no power to the switch. Is there some other fuse that I should check or perhaps the ECM?

Just go through the fuses one by one. I could flip through the manual and give you everything that sounds like its 4x4 related, but some do a whole lot more than whats listed next to it in the manual.

I'll find you a wiring diagram for 4x4 tonight.

Trying to remember if there is a relay for the switch. I'm at work so I can't reference by my truck right now. Inspect all fuses with a test light. And the switch is controlled by the GEM. Not the ECM. Narrow down the fuses & relays prior to the GEM. A dealer will have to configure a new one.

The fuse inside that control 4wd/turn signals. Check to see if you have power at the Solenoids by the battery. If you dont and the 4wd fuse is good, You have issues with the GEM/interior fuse box.
