Could I fit a 33x12.50 r17 on my stock 17" rims or would that be too wide

It's not recommended, it's been done but IMO the tires look ballooned on the 7.5" rims. I have 285s on my stock rims and they look great. I think 295s would be the widest I would go.

So If I got some rims like maybe 8.5 or 9 inches wide I would be good running that wide of a tire right? But then would I need wheel spacers to keep them from rubbing too much?

It depends on the backspacing of the rim. You'd have to ask what someone with wider rims has. Do you have any lift at all?

I have 285/70/17s and they're 32". discounttiredirect.com has Nitto Terra Grapplers in 295/70/17 I think. They would be pretty much 33" but me narrow enough to fit your rims just fine.

I've got an add a leaf in the back and tightened the torsion bars down in the front to make it sit level so it's pretty much like. 2 or 3 inches higher than stock if I had to guess I don't really want taller tires because I'd have to re gear. I'm probably just gonna stay with the same size tire for now. I'll look into those though. I've been looking at Mickey Thompson mtzs they make a 285/70 Which is what my bfgs I have now are but they're 40 dollars more per tire than the 33x12.50s but if I had to buy new rims it would kind of defeat the purpose

That's where I was before I bought the 285/70s. I like mine, I think they're a good size. discounttiredirect.com has 295/70s which are a little over 33" and 285/75s which are like 33.75"

Seen it done several times just don't over inflate or the center of the tires will wear faster

Not recommended but you can run it. I've seen 13.5 on stock. It's best to have a 8" wide rim if you want anything 12.5" and wider. And it should fit stock, might rub at full lock.

And going to a 33" tire you do not need to regear.. I have 35s stock 3.55 and I have plenty of power. Now if I towed alot, or heavy I would definitely regear so I have more off the line power to get my load going but if not don't worry.

If I was running 12.5 tires I'd get 9 inch rims. The way I see it there's not enough benefit in going from 7.5 to 8 inch. 13.5 inch tires on a 7.5 inch rim would look awful.
