Default 05 Whipple on 99?

Friend of mine has a 05 F150 with the 5.4 and I have a 99 with the 5.4. He's got everything from the whipple supercharger to the intercooler, injectors etc...

I did a search and read that the intake ports on the 99 are smaller...would I be ok just opening the port up by matching it to the gasket from the 05? I would open up the lip so that it's a smooth transition not full on port work.

He also has edge tuner with it that has a tune on it for the 05 for the whipple...I assume I wouldn't be able to us it since some things are different on the 05 than my 99 even though they are both 5.4..timing/fuel/etc..?

Thought?

It wont work at all. The intake spacing is completely different on a 3v 5.4

Default 05 Whipple on 99?

You would have to machine a block of aluminum into an adapter plate to have any hope.

The tune will not work at all.

ok, so the intake that comes with the kit wont fit onto the heads correct? Even with matching the ports to the 05 intake.

Thanks for the replies.

I figured the tune wouldn't, but thought perhaps the intake would fit with matching the ports to the 05.

Its the difference of 4v per bank.

I guess I'm a bit lost...are you saying the heads have more then 4 intake openings on head? I'm not looking to replace the heads, more so open up the opening where the intake would fit on....not full porting job just open up where they meet up not to cause resistance. That is if the intake would fit.

I'm with you if you're talking about the tune. I'm lost if you talking about the intake fitting as I wouldn't think how many vales it has matters as the intake and exhaust side ports should still be a total of 8 intake and exhaust.

Right?

You are right on both accounts. The heads on the 3v 5.4s are just different sizes than our 2v heads. I have never take the intake off of a 2v and laid 3v gaskets over it but the inlets need line up as well as the fastener holes and thats if the mounting surfaces will make contact.
