Default '02 Headlight housing changeout

I have a 2002, f-150 Lariat, Supercrew FX4 with the "frosted" stock headlight lens for the halogen bulbs. I want to change the headlights to the HID understand I need to get the clear lens. Is this done as easily as it sounds? What lenses do I need? I've heard about the lenses from the Harley Davidson model. Does these fit as well? I'm new at this and just want to make sure I can do it, before I purchase the conversion kit.
Thanks

i dont know very much about housings but i know you are on the right track with getting a different set of housings with some HID's.... your stock ones would do a terrible job. i'll do some research and get back to you later

You will need an entirely new headlight, you cant just swap out the lens.

Have you tried any of the headlight restoring/cleaners yet??? This could save you some money. Me and a buddy of mine used it on his 97 Lariat and it worked great. His headlamps were yellow before we used the kit to restore them. It's worth a try.

Several different brands out there.

My buddy used Crystal View, btw.

Is there an easy way to find out what headlight fixture(s) will fit my F-150 and allow me to use HID lights, or is it just better to call the dealership and ask which one's are interchangable?

Thanks

you can use the stock headlight, just make sure you buy the right HID kit. i used my stock headlights on an old VW & my old bmw, i had when i put in my HID kits. just make sure you have the lights aimed properly. i never had a problem with blinding oncoming traffic with my old cars.

Nothing against the the lens restorer, but the fog in mine came back within a year. So i switched to the lightning housing. HIDs will work with any housing, but they will be way brighter in projectors or lightning housing. Any housing 99-03 will work. I dont know about 98, but they changed the headlight mounting sometime around then. But my lightning stlye housings were $85.00 shipped on ebay, brand new. And from what Ive seen, our model has got the easiest way of removing and installing the headlight housing.

Alright, I found out that I need the lightning headlight assembly. Being that I am changing over to the HID headlight, do I need to change both the front headlight and the side (turn signal) assembly or can I do just the headlight? I've never removed the assembly so dont know if it comes out in one piece or 2, although it looks as if it is two.
Thanks.

Its two. there are two tabs that you pull up on each side of the headlight, and the housing practically falls out.

Thanks. Wasnt sure if I had to replace both or if I could just do the headlights and leave the turn signal housings alone. Looks like I am ready to this. Now, on to findthe $$$.
