I got to the fuel pump wiring without dropping the tank, it's getting voltage so i'm going to replace the fuel pump.

Tried to siphon the gas from the tank (it is full) but the hose will only go into the tank a little bit. Is there a anti theft plate or screen at the bottom of the filler tube in the tank to keep you from putting the hose all the way into the tank?

NOTE: I'm not saying this is the problem, it could be. PCM/KAM capacitor discharge could be a result of one of many grounds at fault. The PCM uses more than one. Some information circuit grounds route differently, but thankfully, they are easy to get to and maintenance. I know where they all are from memory...some things you don't forget with these old trucks lol.

Anyway, - mfd115, jprevat, - hit the grounds before looking elsewhere, even if they look alright. Take the paint right off, clean the connector, bolt then cover them back up with paint/touch-up.

BTW- Most cab to frame grounds go missing with these trucks.
Yessir. I took off paint on the fire wall and rebooted them. Then found I was missing some grounds underneath and routed some 2 gauge copper from body to frame. So I may have missed one somewhere but the code sets every time I crank the truck.

Sounds like fuel pump, did you depress the Schrader valve on the fuel rail, and have fuel pressure? If it is the fuel pump, I would recommend taking the bed off, much easier than dropping the tank...
Things to check first would be:
1. Can you hear the fuel pump when you turn the key
2. Fuel pressure at the fuel rail
3. Fuses
4. Fuel pump relay
5. Fuel filter
6. Fuel shut off switch ( inertia switch )

Good luck diagnosing....!!!

Keith, have done all 6 in your list. I am getting power to the pump so I got a new fuel pump to put in. Took me for ever to drop the tank. Removing the bed does not help on a crew cab because the pump is under the back seat area. I tried using the fuel line tool on the lines at the pump and failed. NOT needed. Had to cut the lines to find out that the connectors can be released with your fingers. That will be an extra cost. Now to find the fuel lines because dealership wants $190.00 +tax.

Yea, the ring gets bent, - there isn't a tool to retract all the fingers at once when it does. I resorted to Ford flexible fuel line back in 05. The same stuff they use in the engine compartment and at the filter. I'm not suggesting you do this..yea, just a point of information.
