1998 4r70w 4x4 transmission problems
First off new to the site sorry for any mistakes.
I recently bought 1998 4.6 4x4 at first was experiencing a slight slipping from the tyranny.Then one morning put i put it in gear and it gave a loud "thunk" and a jolt followed by a grinding noise. Has no forward or reverse gears. Took the tranny out and tore it down. Friction's were burnt up. But other than that everything looks great. Wondering possible problem's and could it possibly be in the transfer case. Any help would be appreciated.

Double check the planetary gear. The loud thunk and then the grinding noises, match up with a bad planet. I'd double check all the major hard parts before reinstalling. I'd hate to see you have to pull it a second time for any reason.
