I just bought this truck today. I noticed that overhead temp/direction is not working. Can anyone tell me what to look for to get this working again? Thanks

Good to see AdrianP got you covered. I've done two of these. Easy fix if you're good with a soldering iron.

HERE is a thread from another forum with some very good info and pics.

My ’02 just recently started doing this too. Haven’t missed it much, but maybe I’ll use this fix to get it working again.

good afternoon. THANK YOU to you all for supplying the info. I took mine down and brought it into the house to have a better light and handle on it. Took it apart. Looked at it and noticed that the component shown in the video was missing. I carefully looked all around the parts and nothing. I said **** that sucks and put it back together. Took it out to the truck and looked around a little but and lo and behold there it was laying on the drivers side floor. What a relief, it had broken completely off. Took it back in and tore it a part again. Went out to the shed and got my soldering iron. Then said damn the heating element was broke and had no spare to hold the small screw in tips. So had to dig out the big tip. Took it in the house plugged it in to heat up. Got some solder and paste. It was hell trying to hold that small piece in place. But after trying a few times got it to stay in place long enough to apply solder. I use to do a lot of soldering on circuit boards in the Air Force so I know how to solder, lucky me. LOL. Anyway, put it together just enough and took out to the truck and plugged it in and turned on the ignition switch and lo and behold again, it worked like a charm.....Threw it all back together and and installed and turned on the ignition one more time to make sure it was still working. It was. I tell you what, after watching the video and doing it myself it was relatively easy. Thank you so much for that. al_c give it a go, works good.

Excellent news, well done for persevering with it

My attempt was a lot more simple, compared to yours
