Mines been flawless. Bought it new in 03. You could have the older style.

So mine is a 99 5.4 with an aluminum intake manifold. Does that mean someone put the aluminum manifold on there or did it come that way?

I'm not sure when Ford made the switch to the composite manifolds in the F-150, but I've not been able to find any aftermarket manufacturer that offers an aluminum intake for the '01 5.4.
Enjoy the benefits of the slightly older model.

99 is the only year they made the pi aluminum intake. Late 02-03 were the good du ponte composite ones.

My lazy, cheap azz has not messed with it since I've not had to drive it, but I'm looking into it more and discovered my problem may not be a cracked intake. The same symptoms can be attributed to just gasket failure (water leak at #1 cop, and lean codes for banks 1 & 2). Found a good video that that takes you through all the steps. Time to get on it.

Sometimes the satisfaction you get from doing it yourself and saving hundreds of dollars…just ain’t worth it. At least it’s done, it runs great, I had no spare parts left over, and now Jon has something to drive to school.
Alright, don’t bust my chops over the dirt under the hood – this was my hunting truck for a few years.
