Never pay for goods as a "gift" or "friends & family" in PayPal
Be careful of those that ask you to pay for items as a "gift" in PayPal. If you do, you forfeit filing for a disput if your goods do not arrive, or are damaged due to poor packing by seller. While it avoids a percentage charge, it offers no protection with PayPal.
PayPal treats a "gift" payment just as it sounds; a gift. You have no buyer protection when payment is made this way, as a "gift" payment is not used to buy goods.
Be Careful!!!

Keep Calm Chive On
Ever had an issue with Paypal not accepting a credit/debit card? I am trying to buy from a user and it won't let my debit card go through. I am using Paypal account and I know my card has plenty of money on it to pay for the product.

you take your chances. I have paid and recieved payments via paypal using the gift option and never been burned once yet. Maybe i have gotton lucky or maybe its karma cause i have never screwed anyone over either.
Who knows, but as stated before, you do take your chance by doing so.

Friends and Family works well. I use it all the time... Never had an issue. As seller and Buyer.
Also if someone pays on paypal and pays with a CC then you the seller have no way to stop them from getting there money back and you lose your item and your money...
So if you are scared of paypal do a money order only.
