It is somehow involved in writing custom tunes. I'm not that knowledgeable where they are concerned. The guy who wrote my extra custom tunes needed it. I'm sure other people here can explain better. It has 2 custom tunes installed and there are canned tunes from SCT included with the tuner as well.

The strategy code is needed if you want to run the custom tunes. The strategy codes need to match to use the custom tunes. I havent had a chance to check my truck, but I'd be interested if I have the same code.

Just as FYI, you typically cannot use somebody else's custom tunes ( unless the strategy code AND mods done match exactly but that's very much a rarity ).

You can use the preloaded tunes written by the manufacturer but wouldn't want to use somebody else's custom tunes unless the two catagories above match exactly.

Sold the X4 and X3, I can't seem to edit the original post to reflect that. Only have the Xcalibrator2 left.
