Truck tremble at around 50 mph?
hey guys...Man I hope someone here can help me. I bought a 1997 F150 Std. Cab, 4.6 4wd. Thinking I got a great deal. I love the body style and the truck in general. I knew it had some issues and I am working on correcting them. but this new issue just baffles me....
At crusing speed, between 45 and 50 mph (1500 rpm). It starts to tremble. sometimes really bad. This only happens after I have been driving 15-20 minutes. If you step on it ... you can get it to pull out of it. It also does a little, short tremble when accelerating from a stop.
I recently replaced the Control arms, bushing, and ball joints. I also recently found out that the Cats have been gutted.
The couple of shadetree guys I have talked to seem to think something is up with the torque converter or the electronic tranny. Anyone else experience anything like this? I dont mind fixing it....Just dont want to do alot of un called for fixin' . Any adivse will be greatly appreciated.
