Yeah, it sucks and especially the damn video that they make you sit and watch about how to drive on the beach. I used to live in Wilmington, NC and always drove down to Freeman Park at Carolina Beach or as we affectionately call it "the north end". It was always free and then one year it was $5/day or $20/year. Now it's going to be $20/day, $100/year. Just stupid...

Love Camping on the Northend, or Freeman Park now. Have been doing Wednesday to Monday, Memorial Day weekend for over 15 years. Have friends that came as far as Arkanas for this weekend. I don't mind the 100 bucks, because there is much more of a police presence now. It was starting to get out of hand down there. This year was one of the best in a long time. Since most of the crew has children now, it makes a difference.

I'm new to this forum and I live in wilmington. Try to make it on the North End at least once a week for surf fishing. The off season it's free to drive out there but if you get your season pass early enough in the year before summer months you can get your pass for $60.
