Portland area snow

Where did ya go? Rifle or bow?
Every time our group uses our points we get skunked. We've been hitting general season ukiah for spikes the last 4 years as doing well, 3 spikes average out of a party of 6. We are sitting at 5 points this year, starting to get the branch bull itch again.

My family lives at about 1000' elevation in the gorge. They got about 2' of snow. I experimented around and tried hill climbing with a variety of settings including traction control on and off, 4H, and locked rear axle. I didn't try 4L because I'm still not entirely sure what the difference is or when the appropriate time to engage is. 4H with the rear axle locked provided the best traction by far.

I hunted the Dalles Watershed, thought it would be a sure thing since it was a cow tag. Saw some scat, tracks, and I think I spooked an elk in the timber. It was cool to explore the area since its usually completely closed to the public, but wish I got something.
This deer season I had a muzzleloader tag for Hood and White River units, then only got to hunt one weekend (I got sick and couldn't spend any more time in the field). Saw 5 does the first day, but being my first muzzleloader season I screwed up and didn't clean the oil out of my barrel well enough, so when it came time to take a 60 yard shot, my powder was wet. Live and learn.
To keep it tire related, I sold the Cooper M+S and got p285/70r17 Falken AT3W on new rims. They do very well in snow and wet roads, and pretty good on ice.
