I personally love Red Sands, which is located in East El Paso.

Spring Creek Off Road Park...north west of Houston in the Spring area. been out there several times and there is always something i havent done yet...plus the people out there are great and always happy to help...actually had the owner pull out my buddys truck with the bull dozer one day great guy and was more than happy to help. (especially being that none of the other trucks on the property could do it...that thing was STUCK!)

Is it free?
Nice thing about red sands is that its open 365, free entry, free camping, fires allowed 365, etc
10 bucks a person...i have heard of people staying out there but no where really to set up "camp sites" and not sure about a fire....never asked. haha
but its a great park...they have national competitions there...i think its called the "we rock competitions" comes once a year if im not mistaken. its a rock climbing competition and they have a full concrete course. idk if yall watch it or not but on "extreme 4x4" on spike, they did a segment on this place. if yall do watch it, i think it was the episode where the camera guy almost got ran over by the truck.
I actually knew someone that drove an f150 and loved wheelin that moved from cali and we called him dumber plummer. Just checking. Sorry for any possible inference there...
I am not a big fan of chain restaurants as you could try those in your hometown. A great thing about traveling is trying out new places and eating new dishes.
