RGV folk, anyone know someone that really understands the cam phaser issue and can do repairs in the valley? Mine is making alot of noise. I have had the dealership tell me it may be in the lower end. To me it sounds like all the lash adjuster videos I have seen on youtube. Does not sound as much like the phasers but I dont know. I need someone that is really good and will not screw me on price. I also dont want someone repairing it and it not fixing the problem.

Unfortunately, the Valley seems to have sub-par mechanics outside of the dealership. I see on Angie's list that Momentum Automotive in Harlingen, Stutz, Yancy's in Mcallen both get A's. Another way I like to go is to talk to a master mechanic at a dealership and test their knowledge on the issue, if he makes you confident ask for him to do the job.
