Best I've got is 1198 on one tank driving around southern Alberta in July. Averaging 120km/h on the highways. Wanted to get 1200 but next gas station was over 100km away and DTE said 43, should have driven around the block before filling just to get 1200. Next summer if I drop to doing 100km/h I bet I could get 1300 easy. Truck details are in my sig below.

K , just got back from our trip. 99% freeway and I got 634 k. Now it wasn't empty. It was close. In the red and the DTE was saying 100k to empty.

Still, getting close to E. Not recommended when your farting around the highway at night cruising for gas. It took 100 litres. So now I have to think, for that amount of fuel, the distance is decent. I had 36 litres farting around in there some where. I'm sure if I tested it like before and went further, it would have burned another 10 litres before I put gas in her. But would have had 25 liters hiding in there.

15.7 liters per 100k. So is that good for all freeway?

I really like when a gauge goes slow after full. This one being slow at the end really really screws a guy for knowing when to fill up.

Eventhorizon: 1200 k? These new trucks couldn't do that. No way. Keep that truck man! Had a 4.6 in my expy. That truck took a beating and always made awesome mileage. Good engine.

Meplat: the tread on the truck is the factory michelins. Wife has an ecoboost and man that truck is consistent with fuel. Mind you , it leaves 10 to 15 liters in the reserve, not 25 to 35 like mine.

Is the mileage going to get better with time? I was told to wait till you get 8 to 10000k before expecting decent mileage.

To me it seems like I need a "calibration " of the gas gauge if there is such a thing

737jet. You asked.....15.7 liters per 100k. So is that good for all freeway?

Ans. generally I'd say for that vech no that's not good. However there are so many factors to consider: Wind speed and direction. Outside Temp. Topography. PSI in tire. Type of tire. Weight on board. Flow of traffic. Speed travelled driver habit and finally the one we're after. Condition of vech. Engine and the like. For me here in NB this time do year with all those factors I'd say not bad. As for the gauges. Don't fall in the trap of relying on the DTE gauge. Use the gauge how much fuel you have burned. It's usually accurate to within 2-3 litres. As stated before find a good App to track your fuel Eco. My best trip was 7.99Km /L (approx 1086 km/ 136L) and I'm sure that would have been better had I continued on down the I95 in that direction that day.

Bill, thanks for your input. The app I'm using is gas manager for the iPhone. Works ok but isn't as nice as yours. I wish it did liters per k like yours. 6.34 kms per liter in my case.

I've averaged appx 17 l per 100k for the past 1100k's. The truck has 2200k's on it now. Factors? Cold weather, bit of rain. Slight inclines and descents , mostly 120kph the way there n back. Tire pressure's ok. I'm done testing it, and will drop it off this Friday and see what ford thinks. Pretty sure they'll tell me to wait it out but at least I've started tracking it with them.

No way!!!

Best I got is 12.15 L/100km in the trip I mentioned. About 90% 120km/h on the highway. My worst ever was 17.07 L/100km for a full 100+ liters driving 100% city never getting above 70 km/h. My lifetime average is 14.5 L/100km over 10000 km.

All my numbers are worked out by hand, never trust the truck numbers.

As far as a phone app goes I never found one that gave me all the info I wanted so I just made my own spreadsheet in Numbers and have it on my iPhone and iPad. Can send it to you if you want.

here is a photo. The one thing I'd say about this App is it works best when you always fill the tank. If you don't it my not be the app for you. Don't know as I've never tested this theory as I always fill up at the tank.
