Default Dee Zee Tailgate assist Problem

last week I noticed the bottom bolt that attaches to the tailgate had come loose to the point I could just pull it out, I tried tightening the nut mechanism with the special tool but didn't want to over tighten as per specific instructions. I noticed today it's loose again, should I try tightening it more or try other methods like Teflon tape and/or loc-tite?

I'm surprised at this it's only 7 months old.

No, there's 2 active threads in the 09-14 forum. The hole is elongated do the nutsert eventually wiggles out over time. I just installed mine 2 days ago so I can't speak for its durability, definitely had to turn it about 12-13 times to get it tight (vs the 9 in the instructions).

I'll make sure to include this occurrence to the escalation, SOUNDWAVE. Please pass on the info previously requested; I'll proceed.

Wow, first the decal and now this. You can't catch a break, Ford's really sticking it to you, and laughing the whole time. Geez.

This isn't a Ford Part Kwasi.

Soundwave, go read the page upon page upon page of this in the 09-14 section, pictures and ideas are provided. You need to replace the nutsert with an actual NUT. You need to open the tailgate access and use a long stick taped to a wrench and then the nut taped to the wrench.

Ok will do thanks! Kwasi he's right this isn't a Ford Part so I'm not sure you can help but I appreciate your efforts.

just an update, I ended up contacting Dee Zee they sent me a whole new kit minus the shock which is great and makes me happy although it's the same so I guess next year I'll be bugging them for another nutsert LOL.

I'm on my 6th nutsert that has failed on my 2011 F-150 and I only use my tailgate 2-3 a week at the most. I emailed Dee Zee about a week ago and still no response. Part # DZ43200
