Default Alberta vehicle inspection woes

Howdy,

I'm living in Yellowknife right now and moving down south in Alberta this summer.

Here I bought an oldie-goldie 1993 F-150 SCAB, 5.0L, 4OD, 6.5', 4x4 off-road.
It's got 245 000km on the counter. No surface rust.

The only things that don't work are:
-A/C is busted (who care in Yellowknife)
-Hood-release handle is broke (got a zap-strap to pop the hood)
-Parking brake light doesn't always come on (but e-brake works)
-The front seat belts show signs of chaffing and the springs are weak.

The truck runs strong, but likes its oil. About a liter for 1000km...

I'm afraid that if I move the truck down south, it's gonna bomb the Alberta vehicle inspection.

Emission testing maybe?

Can somebody chime in to share experiences?

Del

No emissions testing here... And as far as I know it's just safety stuff they look for, might get u on the seat belt spring and parking brake light

Really? I might have just extrapolated from this:

The mechanical fitness portion of the OOP vehicle inspection involves virtually all vehicle components including fuel and exhaust systems, all electrical, engine controls, powertrain, driveline, steering, suspension, braking systems, wiring and lights, tires, glass, wipers and defrosters.

So I,ll work on the hand brake light, seems to be a bad contact between the pedal and a switch somewhere.

also, for the seatbelts, might have to go to the dump. Anyway to take apart seat belts without a special tool?

I believe they just bolt on, as well I'd have the inspection done at a small town shop not a big city shop like Canadian tire... Where r u planning on moving to ?

Harry, I'm going to Medicine hat!

I got what you mean by "small town shop"...somebody where I'm goin might know of a more "lenient" place...

for the bolt-on part for the seat-belt, there is a big torx-like screw that holds the seat belt bracket in place close to the roof.

I believe it's a torx 50 (buy 2) for the seatbelts. There are 3 for each one of the side belts. Start with the one in the floor, it's always the hardest and if it doesn't come, you're not getting the belt out. Some heat from underneath the rocker is almost a for sure requirement unless you get real lucky.
