Alberta and L/100 drop suddenly , thoughts?
I put 6000 km on my "12 5.0 Screw which has 50000Km when I bought it. I usually always got 11-14 in the city , suddenly without warning I am getting 17-18 L/100 km . No idling no hauling no changes just Sudden drop , filled up at half tank but from same place "superstore " no changes . Anyone ever experience this ? Forums are leading me to believe it's that gas ( winter blend ) but looking for opinions from Canada.

my mileage went down too since last week. I attributed that to my wife driving a little more often (she's always in a rush / late, so she drives pretty hard...), but I can see winter gas being out now too.
16-18 L/100km was my typical average for all-city driving last winter. Yes, it sucks.

I'm happy to give insights on your inquiry, tbaz & ecopat. Allow me to point out some factors concurring to the occurrence, and tips for better fuel efficiency.
Factors:
-Cold weather can increase fuel consumption, since the engine doesn’t operate efficiently until it is warmed up
-Winter fuel, sold during winter months, contains 2% less energy than summer fuel etc…
Better fuel efficiency:
-Keep tires properly inflated
-Use the right oil
-Keep wheels aligned
-Replace dirty air and oil filters etc…
I hope this helps! Also, I encourage you to book an appointment with your dealer for a thorough diagnosis; please let me know how it goes, and I'll see how to help further.

Well luckily i have the same truck and have the same issue. Living in Calgary i have noticed a few things that affect it. The main is that fuel and expands and contracts based on a scale that is based on plus/minus 15 degrees from 0 degrees. so when its really cold out fuel contracts so your economy will undoubtedly go down when we hit -30. Way more stop and go on stormy days, and well i also feel like with the price of oil in the crapper, fuel companies are not using as high of quality control, and some bad batches (aka maybe the octane only measured 85) there shipping it out the door. This is complete speculation but I am sure that others feel the same.

I ran all city, mostly 4A, for the past 2 weeks / 1 tank in Calgary. We had some snow on the ground, some cold days... anyway, my tank average as of yesterday (almost empty): 20.4 L / 100km according to the lie-o-meter!! so more like 21-22... that blows, better fill 'er up while gas is cheap...
