2012 F-150 - Timing Chain at 118K
Let me start by saying that I have been happy with everything about this truck so far... until now. I had the check engine light come on at 118K and took the truck to the dealership. Diagnosis: Cam sensor is showing a variance in timing. Only solution is a timing chain, gear, tensioner replacement. How is this possible at 118K.... I have an 2007 Altima with 300K on it and the timing chain has never been touched.
Of course I am out of drivetrain warranty... go figure. The dealership said there is no programs, recalls, anything to help. Called Ford Canada Customer Service and their response: WAIT 2 BUSINESS DAYS FOR A SUPERVISOR TO CALL ME BACK! In the meantime, I can spend $2500 (16 hours labour, $277 in parts, plus tax) to get it back on the road or try to see if there is something Ford can do.
I had an Acura TSX that had a timing chain issue at 185,000 KM (known issue with the 2004) and had nothing but a great experience getting assistance even though there were no programs, recalls, etc.
Anyone else out there with this issue?

Make sure you let everyone know if Ford steps up. They never did for my 09 lemon.
