The chip is more than just a resistor. You are thinking of the old GM VATS system that had a resistor in the key. The new fords and most any other car uses a transponder in the key which should have kept anyone from driving away with the vehicle. The only way I could see them getting past things is if there was a remote start system where the theif could have used it to send the right signals to the ecm to allow it to start

Sorry for the hassle you're going through, but at least you got your truck back.

As far as posting online that you're about to commit Insurance Fraud.... Not so smart.

Dear Board Moderators/owners.

We have a member who has openly admitted insurance fraud in a posting here
anyhow I ended up claiming a little more than what was in the truck, ofcourse, It's only fair to rip them they way they rip me!
If I were an insurance company or LEO in British Columbia, Canada, I would be getting a warrant for the ISP information for those posts for the purpose of prosecution.

We do not need people advocating criminal acts here. The OP complains about thieves and calls them names, but is a thief himself!

Every time someone "claims a little extra" on their insurance claim that's making premiums for everyone, including the person who makes the claim, more expensive! The money for those claims comes from somewhere, so anyone who claims extra stuff is stealing from everyone who pays premiums. You aren't entitled to anything more because you got screwed, so stop screwing everyone else.

Not EVEN the fact that you're posting on the internet about what possibly could be insurance fraud, you're posting on the internet expecting compassion, which you will NEVER get. You had a trailer full of toys and a nice expensive truck, you might as well hang a sign on your truck that says steal me. You keep mentioning the $600.00 you spent, you expect $600.00 to save what sounds like $75,000.00+ worth of property? Like everyone else has said, nothing is theft proof, especially a little alarm. I understand your frustration, but insulting members here and showing your ignorance in the posts you make aren't helping. And I agree with the poster right after OP- people are too sue happy.

i think i would rather them use a stripped key, verses busting out the window, f!&#ing up the ignition and/or wiring harness, or even shooting/ killing ur ***** in a car jacking. because we all know if they want it they will get it, they have been known to stalk people for weeks at a time to jack them, reguardless of the precautions taken. be glad it wasnt a jacking and ur still here to b**ch about it. i have children and carry a pistol at all times, but not sure of my reaction if they tried to get it w/ my kids inside. the military treats us(soldiers) to react in those high stress/scary situations, i have reacted perfectly before and not realized it till it was all over. but dont know what i would do if kids were put into the equation.jus my 2 pennies

In reading this post, I had sympathy for the poster, as there is no way we can make our trucks or cars completely safe from theives. I was puzzled as well as how a blank key can override the PATS system, as the truck should not start unless the transponder in the key matches the receiver code in the PCM. This doesn't sound right.

Then I read where this original poster is stealing against his insurance company:

"anyhow I ended up claiming a little more than what was in the truck, ofcourse, It's only fair to rip them they way they rip me!brags on making an insurance claim higher than the actual damage"

You are both scum bucket theives. IMO, you are no better than the scum that steals vehicles. All theives cost honest folks money; higher insurance costs are partly to blame because of theives like you, and higher taxes to cover law inforcement to combat vehicle theft.

Feel proud to be no better than the scum that stole your truck? Have a family? great lesson to pass on to children. Teach them to be a theif too.

Both of you are theives.
