"Oh man did i Tear a strip out of the guy on the phone with me!, anyhow I ended up claiming a little more than what was in the truck, ofcourse, It's only fair to rip them they way they rip me! "

Complaining about a theft then following it with another just seems ignorant. Better hope they dont manage to see that or they could wipe your whole claim. I work on $400,000 motorhomes all day long. They have thousands in anti-theft devices. Since I know what to look for I could completely disable all the systems with a pair of cutters and 3 wire nuts. If someone wants it, there gonna get it regardless of what's suppose to be stopping them. For every anti-theft device, someone is installing and servicing them. Once you know how it operates you effectively know how to make them "not" operate. Good luck with the claim.

HAHAHA! Thats funny!!

To the OP. I here ya on the 600.00 security. I don't think you should call all pissed off at all, but you should get in contact with ford and at least ask how the system is supposed to work, and how ford themselves think it could have been stolen. I mean to me thats legitimate enough to find out BECAUSE maybe your system was never functioning right, or never actually installed, but for 600.00 if it wasn't even working you need to find that out to fix it. I would want to find some info out if I was you for sure, and your insurance may want the same who knows. But as far as suing them, you threaten that your not getting any help to fix the system as it may have not been working.

Sorry to hear about your loss, that just sux.. Seems like I'm reading more and more and more posts and threads about people trucks and items getting stolen.. Makes me nervous, well unless I got a nice big check to get a new one, lol! Either way unhappy isn't close to how I would feel.

All these 'security' systems really just keep honest people honest. I do building security systems (card access/cameras/bio-id). Honestly, anyone with some electronics know how could get into even the most secure building with minimal effort...so how do you think a $600 alarm is gonna stop a pro from stealing your truck?

"locks are for honest people"

There isn't a vehicle made that can't be stolen. The fact yours was and I am assuming it had a PATS system is almost unheard of.

Can they be broken into easily... you bet.

Can they be rolled down a driveway and towed away, you bet.

Can you stop someone from taking your vehicle if they really want it? No.

If you make your vehicle a target by leaving trailers with toys on it, then it is a jackpot for the bad guy.

there are ways to pick a lock, or use a bump key,but I am unaware of an easy way to defeat the PATS system, short of bringing a ECM with you, opening the hood, and swapping it out with the factory one, then getting the truck running with keys made from the factory information and the ECM encoded for a PATS key ahead of time.

If anyone knows if the PATS can be defeated I'd like to know basics, but don't post specifics please!

I "left" my trailor backed all the way to the wall of my house, (1 inch away) I have a jefferson numb lock, Not some cheap key lock on the hinge of the door. I had the trailor detached from the truck, and the female end of the adapter was locked with a 2" solid steel powerfist lock. You tell me how i can be anymore cautious... as for the door, None of the door's on my truck have a key hole, its wireless only, otherwise theirs a button lock on the driver and front passenger door. (key code as you say) Wich i dont even remember somtimes! As for the opening of the hood, I thought that if the truck's alarm was armed, Any tampering with the hood would set it off, especially since you need to pop the hood from the inside of the truck (Atleast thats how it is with mine) The thieves didnt wreck the truck, scratch it or even break a window! That's what startled me the most... Mind you when i had the truck towed, I noticed the back tires had absolutely no tread (nearly slicks) Which strangely mad me giggle???

sorry for your loss man but if you hadnt had the "immobilizer" your truck would have been stolen between 12:00 and 12:05 instead of 12:00 and 5:00, like everyone's saying, locks are for honest folk, thieves are lowlife scum but are unfortunately getting smarter.

just my 2 cents

With the internet, and technology, and studying these thieves do nowadays, these guys can figure out ways around anything. If he/she wants it that bad, they will do anything to get it. As soon as they came out with these immoblizers, the PROs were getting their dirty hands on them, and figuring out was to get around it. I just dont see any case here. Take the loss, and milk it out with the insurance company.

Sorry to hear about the loss though. Makes me think twice about leaving it parked on the street.

i dont understand how they could have started your car without doing any of the things you mentioned unless somehow they got your key and copied the chip without your knowledge. this is a weird case. definatly were pros.
