Wow; the salty conditions that some of you F150 owners have to deal with; it seems to cause issues on your trucks. One post this past weekend stated his front springs broke, and now this potential steering shaft joint issue. Snow and the salt needed to melt it off stinks!

I've heard of some dudes putting on a glove and hand-packing that joint with grease. Seems to work.

I'm up in Michigan on the lake. Salt used on the roads here by the ton. It's killer on the vehicles. Just replaced my lower steering shaft.

The SOLUTION to my steering problem: Sprayed PB Blaster (similar to Liquid Wrench or WD-40 but I use it for tough stuff) onto both the upper and lower U Joints, easy to get to. THen rotated the steering 1/2 way to left, sprayed both again, then rotated all way to left, sprayed again. Did same to the right. CUred the problem ! Try this first before you spend time and money. Salty2 was right in suggesting this. Tnx all, Steve
