yes, another TPMS thread - faking the system
I soooo hate the TPMS, but have not found a reliable way to bypass the light on the dash.
I removed the sensors from the stock wheels andd tried the sealed/pressurized PVC tube. Yes, I now know that doesn't work with the new style sensors that need to wake up.
The only thing I can do that does put the light out is using the TPMS tool against the Pressurized PVC tube - light goes out for about 20 miles or so. Not a great solution, but so far, the only one that will put the light out...even so just for a little while.
There has GOT to be a way to trick the truck into putting the light out.

Ford Tech
Sorry there is no way to "trick" the system, it can't be turned off with any computer, not even a ford computer. Government controlling more of our lives. Only true way to fix it is to bite the bullet and have them installed in the tires. Or put a piece of electrical tape over the light.

true, i do understand that.
On our '11 Toyota FJ Cruiser, someone figured out what wire to apply 12v to which will put the light out...forever! Was hoping there was some redneck mod like that on the f150.
I was going to do the tape thing. How easy is it to get the clear lens off the cluster?
Great truck otherwise.

Other than airing up the tires take it to ford and ask them to retrain the sensors, as far as I know we don't charge to retrain sensors

maybe take your gauges cover off and remove the led behind that symbol. just a thought, dont know how difficult that is. i have seen guys switch the leds to different colours back there so i bet you could open it up.

Maybe put the sensors in the wheels where they belong...what's the big deal ??

How could you not like to know when you have a tire going down @ 65MPH...you better be wearing your seal belt then...It's a federal mandate that all 08 and above cars and trucks have these sensors and TPMS systems...just like your seatbelts and cats...good luck

I just don't. dont like paying for a big brother feature I don't agree with, and the ongoing costs associated with it. It is another system to maintain and service.
I just wanted to point out I did find a half-assed way to put the light out (even for 20 miles/minutes or so) if you put the sensors in a sealed pressurized tube - use the reset tool to put the light out.
Just surprised no one has found a more elegant way to defeat the system.
everyone has their pet peeves about certain things. some hate DRL. mine is TPMS.
