Default WTF is this in my diff

Alright gentleman so I have a 2007 XL 4x4 with the 4.6L lifted 4" on 35's. I have the 8.8 rear end not the 9.75 found on 5.4 models. Well I was going to meet up with a girl i have been talking to for a while last week and I was going to get on the freeway, making a sharp hairpin turn and pow I felt my trucks rear end jumping and making a terrible thud sound. And then lost all forward and backwards movement. Paid 300 dollars to get it towed over an hour back to my house. Well I popped off the rear diff cover and sure enough all my spider gears had self destructed. Seemed simple enough, get new spider gears, put them in and replace diff fluid, call it a day. Well I disassembled the rear end last night and got everything taken apart only to find my spider gears have an S clip holding them together and clutch packs behind them. From what I know this is "trac loc" (limited slip) (posi) whatever you want to call it rear end. Little did I know because I would take my truck into the mud over the years and never did both tires spin at the same time. So I inspected them and of course my 160,000 miles wore them out which is why they weren't working anymore. But the teeth that had broken off the spider gears chipped and broke the some of the clutch material pads. So I don't want to put them back in. I don't really care to have a limited slip because my off-road and burnout days are done, but I would like to find new ones, but the only ones I can seem to find are for mustangs and I would have Order them from ford racing. Has anyone else run into this and found a solution. I guess if worse came to worse I could just reuse them and it would make it an open diff which I'm fine with but I don't want any more pieces braking off inside the pumpkin and shredding my 150 dollar spider gears again. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated guys

You were not supposed to meet that girl. That is the only advice I can give you. Sorry buddy, I just had to say it because I know nothing about trannys and gears

your profile picture looks like an XL. Do you know if you have a 8.8 rear end?

You're welcome man, glad I could help a little. Yeah I've had my STX for a year now and I'm really happy with it now that I got some good sized tires on it.

With a 4 inch lift and running 35's, you might want to consider upgrading to the 9.75 rear.
