Missed a memo? No, you missed a decade lol. It actually came out in 99 3 years before the 3V. It was used in the Navigators, 2000 Mustang SVT Cobra R, GT500, and the GT Supercar. In fact the 5.8 4v going in the 2013 GT500 is based on the 5.4 4V but in aluminum form without the cast iron cylinder liners to safely increase the bore.

well after bieng frusterated for hours, i finally managed to get them both out today. there right below the new ones im gonna install. all I have left to do is wipe off the block abit and then start to install the headers with the gasket.

as for the ticking sound, who knows if this is going to fix it. but as far as I can see, theres no crack in the manifold and those metal gaskets from ford look great. looks like ill just be getting extra hp outta the deal and waking the truck up as someone said here.

All that work to install shorties??? You're not going to see much with them.

With all the work you have into removing the stock manifolds, I'd go with long headers and ditch the shorties.

I have that typical manifold exhaust leak/tick on my passenger side and i was thinking about replacing them with headers but after reading how big of a pain in the *** it is i'm starting to think twice lol

X3. The shorties really don't flow any better than the stock manifolds. However, if you are looking to just replace a damaged manifold or have an annoying leak these are good call.

meh i was just trying to get rid of the ticking noise.. stealership said that id have to change the manifold cause theres probably a leak in it cause it sounded pretty bad from the passenger side wheelwell. whatever the outcome is im sure ill be happy. just gotta find a good exhaust now for catback. thinking Magnaflow.

I'll agree with that. It's just that after reading all the misery this OP has gone through, he deserves some payoff for all his effort.
