Would you buy another Ford Truck?
#22
It seems most of you would come back to Ford. I do agree with a couple statements in this thread though.
"A new motor is cheaper than a new truck!" That is a logical statement and it makes perfect sense, I just never thought of it that way.
12 more payments and my truck is paid for, hard to believe I'm only putting about 9,000 miles on my truck a year. At this rate she should last me another 12 years, lol!

I plan on keeping my 05 for the next twenty years, I already have plans to rebuild the engine, put a rust-proof coating on the frame, and slowly replace everything underneath.

Everything on the road is great, until it breaks. A friend of mine bought a new Nissan Titan a couple years ago and it spent most of the first year (literally; cumulatively, about 7 or 8 months out of the first 12 or 14!!) he had it in the dealer's shop undergoing warranty work. They all have issues. My Avalanche was a money pit (no warranty on that one) and constantly it seemed it would sneak up and take a piece out of my wallet. So, yes I would buy another Ford. Besides, cam phasers don't look like a bad job in the overall scheme of things. The plug thing? Well, bight the bullet and get 'er done and move on. That's a one shot deal too. In fact I'm likely to buy an LTS9000 in the near future (talks are ongoing LOL).

my '05 is paid off (116K) did the plugs at 87K ($250.00) just did camphasers, tensoners, chains, guides, all to get rid of the famous tick and inspection came out to $3,800.00, i was really upset about all that, but i love my truck it has always done what i ask and never left me set (knock on wood) i will keep it as long as i can, there is nothing cheaper than a paid off ride, would i buy another Ford yes because there is nothing better out there as a complete package 1/2 ton truck

Nope. I don't want to get rid of the truck I have now! I might buy a Raptor when I get done with college, and keep this truck as a project truck. For now, I won't buy another one! I have been a happy Ford truck fan all of my life. Driving Ford since I started driving!

No - not that #2. I'm on my second 150. I had a '97 and had to give it up when the Mrs. got her Mustang. Took over the Explorer; it's nice, but not a truck. Got an '07 FX4 screw - love it. Speaking of being loyal to one maker - I have the '07 FX4, the wife has an '06 Mustang, we still have the '02 Explorer, and my son has a '99 Ranger. My daughter is the only one who doesn't drive a Ford - she inherited a Malibu when my mother-in-law passed. Wouldn't buy anything but a Ford.

Ya, I would, but I would NEVER EVER buy another 04-08!!! The engines are just sooo weak and poorly designed.
Would definitely go with another 5.0 next time around. I had a 2011 with the 5.0 and traded it in when I bought my second house to bring down my overhead.
My 05 is currently back at carmax AGAIN for for top end motor work. Thinking they are going to have to change the cylinder head now.

Ive got about 2.5 years left on the loan and thats probably another 35-40k but that shouldnt be a problem.
Normally I get bored with a vehicle around 3 years but 3 years later Im still loving this truck.
