Default Word on the Street: F-150 5.0L On the Way!!

So I really love my 2007 KR Screw but stopped by the dealership this weekend to look at a 2010. Wow!! That's all there is to it. I really would like to get one but was told by someone to hold out for a 2011 because there would be engine changes. Well after a quick google search, this is what I found.

This may be old news to some but thought that I would pass along the info to those who haven't heard.

the 5.0 seems a bit high-strung, high rpm, and high dollar to be of any use in a f-150. i think the 6.2 is a better choice with the lower rpms and better torque. more valves, more cams, more this more that= more expensive repairs

that TT 5.0 "road runner" sounds sweet though!

Honestly, I'd rather have the EcoBoost. Better MPG, and the torque can be put in the right range with the right turbos and programming. Smaller motors with quick spooling turbos == super fast torque.

Although it sounds like the 5.0L would be good for somebody who wants a truck that may never tow something but likes trucks anyway and/or wants a fast street truck.

+1!

Give me the EcoBoost V6 (but come down on the price) for this city-slicker who only needs it to occassionally tow/haul (and do some muddin for fun)

Why Twin Turbo when you can just go w/ a GT3788R (.89)? The 4.6 is purrrrfect for that turbo. And personally, I wouldnt want a quick spool turbo, cuz then you are fully spun up before you are redlined. Diesels dont have quick spools, unless they are modded for performance. Plus, in diesels, when you do turbo upgrades, its just that, an UPGRADE, and not downgrade, which would give you a quicker spool. Sure, its nice to have all the power/torque right away, but you limit yourself. Maybe twin 3572's on the 5.0, w/ .72 housing would be a righteous beast (sorry if I lost anyone).

I would rather have a quick spool. Turbo lag sucks, and you really notice it when racing. Or in the case of a big truck, pulling a load. My S60 put out 11 lbs. of boost... when it spooled up by 2500 RPM. I'd much rather have that boost at a grand or so.. Can't wait to test drive an Ecoboost F150.

The 6.4 Power Stroke has a fantastic turbo setup. I get giddy every time I look at it.

A twin-turbo allows you to have a quick-spooling turbo for immediate response and torque in addition to a high-revving spool for high-end horsepower.
