lmao I saw (and could hear) an AMA beating the starter to death. I was tempted to tell him at that point, if you're hitting it that hard more than once and it's not going, it's dead or something else LOL. With my fusion though I have to either remote start it and do it while it's trying to start it or have someone hold it in the start position. If I hit it then try to start it, I usually can't get it. I need the solenoid to see +12V while I bump it. But still, if you've tried it a few times and it hasn't gone, it's probably not that.

I'd take the next step too and check it with a voltmeter but it's starting to sound internal to the starter based on everything you've stated so far.

Default Found the problem

I got home from work and after dinner started taking off the starter. I didn't notice it until I was trying to get the top bolt out , that the little ground that connects the solenoid to the starter was disconnected. All the do is secure with a simple solder point. The copper wire on top is still bare. I'll try to post the pic tomorrow from a pc.

Hooked up the new, connected the neg at the battery and it started right up .

I noticed that two get the positive and neg off its easier to use a headlamp and lay head towards the engine and feet towards the bumper . When taking the bolts that secure the starter off it helped to turn so that my head was pointed towards the passenger side and my feet towards the driver side of the truck.

I'm hoping the replacement lasts longer than 8 months. Thanks again

8month old Duralast Gold Starter. When the starter was in place i could not see that the soldered ground "popped off" of the metal L bend. It wasn't until i went to remove the starter that i felt that it was off. Even on the replacement it doesn't look like its secured well enough. If it happens again at least i feel i can remove it in about 30minutes. Thank you all again for the help. You pointed me in the right direction...
