Default wobble after wheel spacer install

Im putting on some 1.5 wheel spacers and after install and has a severe wobble coming through the steering wheel. i slowly got back down the street to my house and i need to look at these again. Am I right in thinking that with that wobble, ot would be coming from one of the front wheels?? Any way i can tell by looking at them which one might be an issue

Cheap spacers? For safety reasons, only hub-centric spacers should be used. If they are hub-centric then are your original studs touching the wheel, making it not sit flush on the spacer?

just didnt have it tight enough.. after that roll down the street, i was able to really wrech them down and its pretty much gone.. I know sometimes the addition of these can intensify an of-balance issue.. its time for that anyway.. so i'm sure a rotation and balance and I will be in good shape

PS.. I also plasti-dipped my windshield cowl.. if you havent done this.. i highly recommend it.. really brings back the black

Do yourself a HUGE favor. Take the wheels off and make absolutely sure the factory studs aren't protruding through the spacer and hitting the back of the wheels. Your description of wrenching them down really tight causing the problem to "almost" go away makes me very suspicious. The studs probably need to be ground off a bit. If they're hitting the back of the wheels, its going to end somewhere between badly and tragically.

i'll double check it.. but i knew the stories of having to grind down the originals, but they were not passing through the end of the spacer holes

Even tho you think the wheels are tight, I would periodically check the lugs and make sure they are staying tight. If that wheel is not sitting perfect with the center of your hub the lugs will eventually loosen up.

I think spacers are one of the most dangerous things to put on a vehicle. Seen far too many jeeps and trucks loose wheels while driving or worse because of cheap or improperly installed spacers. Just buy wheels with proper backspacing and call it a day with no worries in the end.

If you're going to use them, do as especial says. Worst I've seen was a lifted tahoe with 30"s lose a wheel due to spacers going about 50 mph. Was more or less his fault though.
I agree with bbrad though, just get a set of proper wheels and spare yourself a potential catastrophe

But what if you want your factory wheels to stick out a little further so they sit flush with the fender??????
