red was a ground on old ford radio harness

That is why wire harnesses are nice... Esp. for $10.00 from Walmart.

never heard of anyone having to tap a ignition wire for a stereo install on the newer truck that has a wiring harness, sorry this is a first for me

there is more than one radio fuse.on some veh it was a fuse under the hood but i think it is in the pass. kick panel box. the factory wire is not red on the veh. plug

Do you have a manual? I just paid $25 at Autozone for one of the Haynes books. You are going to have to spend some time with a test light and the wiring diagrams in the back of the book to find your problem.
