Default will a new leveling kit give me height?

This may be a dumb question but:
Will adding a 2 1/2" leveling kit to the front give me a noticable height difference? I know it will bring up the front to meet the back but Will the mid section of my truck actually sit higher?
I assume the truck is on a slope right now so the closer to the front the more added height?

Not to sound like a wise *** but since the axis being used when leveling the front is the rear wheels, I would assume that it would be fractionally higher as you got closer to the front but nothing that would allow you to see a huge difference. Mainly just front height.

I was wondering the same thing...If i may, i think you are asking if it lifts the front bumber up about 2 1/2 inches right? Those extra 2 1/2 inches of clearance should would be nice when out for a nice 4x4 stroll? Is that right?

yes it would, but i think it might lower the rear just a tad bit because of the front being lifted.

I plan to do the 3" front level, with the 2" add a rear...Would I run in to any long term problems? I will eventually do a lift, just cant afford a 6" right now :-(

That's a good question, I'm doing the same thing. I've heard different answers from different mechanics, one says yes you will do damage because the angles are not right. The other says, correct me if I'm wrong but everything is supposed to be able to move that far anyway....

My thought was, that since I plan on getting a bigger lift within the next two years that it should be fine, I won't put more than 30,000 miles on it in that time, how much damage could it do in 30,000 miles?

What also comforts me is that there is a Ford dealer in North Platte, Ne that sells most of it's F-150s with 33" rubber on 2.5 leveling kits and warranty still applies.... If they will warranty it, it can't be that hard on things....

Very true about the warranty part. I guess it cant do too much damage if they are willing to warranty the 2.5 level kit....The add a leaf shouldnt hurt anything im sure. My neighbor has it on his and his truck is still perfect.

Wink

You do get more clearance with the 2.5. I have it on my truck but your axles are still in the same place. You raise your cross members and support braces but the differential stays put. If you need that extra clearance the only way to get it is bigger tires that raise the distance from the ground to the center of your axle. And yes the lift will help make room for those 35s you want to put there to make that room. Hope this info helps.

I have heard from numerous sources here that the 3" is a little much for a level kit. Not only will it cause quicker undo wear on the front end, but also, according to WXMCPO- his 2.5" actually made the front sit a little higher than the rear but you couldn't tell without measuring. So if that is the case, than the 3" would be worse.

I've also heard the 3 inch requires replacing the shocks where as my 2.5 didn't need that.
